鈥淗ere and There: Navigating the Cultural In-Between鈥 explores a diverse range of works from Korean ceramic artists that negotiate the complexities of bicultural identities and perspectives.
The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of works from Korean ceramic artists under the theme 鈥淐urrent鈥濃攖he nuances of the word entail something that is influx, continuously moving, and malleable (conceptually/physically). It also alludes to presence and a reflection of our most immediate times. The theme 鈥淐urrent鈥 will be explored through a diverse range of styles and concepts that pertain to identity. Despite the commonality in cultural backgrounds, there is also a unique and complex bicultural perspective as the artists navigate cross cultural influences and ways of making. They are inevitably influenced by the duality of east and west, as well as unique markers of their own histories that are specific to their own lived experiences. This exhibition will highlight subversive forms that cull from history, mythologies, and techniques that explore the nuances of Korean identity.
