WHAT YOU WILL LEARN — NON-CERTIFICATION TO CERTIFICATION

If you already have prior course work or a degree related to early childhood or child development that does not lead to teacher certification or licensure BUT want to become a Kentucky Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) certified lead teacher or early interventionist, this ROUTE is for you! Through this program you will enhance your competency as an early childhood educator by learning how to teach and help children (birth through five years), with and without special needs, flourish in the same classroom.

What You Can Teach

You can:

  • Work with children under age 3 with disabilities in First Steps (Kentucky’s early intervention system) or Help Me Grow (Ohio) as an early interventionist.
  • Teach children (ages 3-6 years) as a lead Preschool or Kindergarten classroom teacher in public school districts
  • Teach preschool age (3-5 years) children in blended Head Start and state-funded preschool classrooms in public school districts
  • Work with public school district preschool teachers as a regional training center or state department of education preschool program consultant.
