The Praxis II assessments are separate from the Praxis I Core Academic Skills exams used for admission to teacher education programs.
Praxis II assessments are not required for graduation from ÎÞÂëÇ¿¼é. Instead, they prepare students for initial certification in Kentucky. These exams assess content area knowledge and pedagogy knowledge. The particular tests required vary by major. Most students take one Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) exam and additional exams for each of their content areas.
COE faculty will provide more guidance in your classes. Many students take their content tests after completing the majority of their content courses and teaching methods course for that content area. Many students take their Principles of Learning & Teaching (PLT) test after completing their pedagogy courses, often during Clinical Experience.
ETS.org has practice tests that are retired versions of the tests from previous administrations. They are the closest you can get to the real thing. They offer official study guides for each section for use in conjunction with the practice test. Also, they have occasional free webinars that can assist in your preparation.
The College of Education has purchased Praxis II preparation books for students to borrow. Please visit the Teacher Preparation & Educational Studies (TPES) office in MEP 251 to sign out the materials.
